Chad and I have been married for 13 years this May, and he enjoys his career in IT consulting. Before transitioning to be a stay-at-home mom, I worked both in education and law—an experience that has shaped my passion for public education and service to our schools.

In our free time, we love popping popcorn and watching movies, taking turns playing the piano, and spending time with our extended family that lives nearby.

Fun Fact: I’ve had the honor of receiving the PTO Outstanding Service Award and the PTO Council Citizenship Award 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲𝘀 in my tenure as a volunteer.

Serving as a Lovejoy ISD trustee is a serious responsibility—one that requires knowledge, preparation, and a deep commitment to our schools. I’ve spent several years learning about our district’s priorities, operations, challenges, and opportunities so that I can step into this role 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟭. 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗜’𝘃𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱:

I understand the role and responsibilities of a trustee and am deeply familiar with the issues discussed at our school board meetings. If elected, I would be ready to step into the role on Day 1.

I’ve served on the Strategic Planning, Capital Planning, and Campus Improvement Committees, gaining valuable insight into our district.

I dedicated time to this unique initiative to obtain firsthand knowledge of our schools, touring campuses and learning from district leaders to understand how Lovejoy ISD operates.

𝗘𝘅𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗩𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗛𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗟𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗷𝗼𝘆:

I’ve given countless hours to supporting our schools through various roles and organizations.

𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗨𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗧𝗲𝘅𝗮𝘀 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗽𝗲:

I’ve built relationships with local and state leaders, attended legislative updates, and stayed informed on how state policies impact Lovejoy ISD.

𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗘𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀:

I’ve worked with our representatives (Candy Noble, Angela Paxton, and Pam Little) to advocate for Lovejoy students, teachers, and families. I’ve also created charts and summaries to help them understand how state decisions affect our district and student opportunities. (More on this in Day 4’s post!)

I am ready to serve and would be honored to earn your support!

Over the years, I’ve been dedicated to advocating for Lovejoy ISD, working to ensure our students, teachers, and families have the resources and support they need to succeed. Here are some of the ways I’ve actively spoken up for our district:

𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀: During my time as legislative chair for the Lovejoy Council of PTO’s, I created a legislative newsletter for parents and community members, and informative social media posts to help bring awareness to key legislation that could impact our district and and to help parents get involved in contacting our legislators. Our parents calls and emails definitely were noticed by our legislators, who commented on it often!

𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗟𝗲𝗴𝗶𝘀𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀: I worked with other Lovejoy parents to build relationships with legislators like Rep. Candy Noble, Sen. Angela Paxton, and others—sharing our challenges and advocating for increased funding. It wasn’t easy and somewhat discouraging at times—our initial asks for general funding, such as an increase in the basic allotment, didn’t seem to appeal to the legislators. A new approach was needed….

𝗙𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗠𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲: We zeroed in on GT funding, knowing we needed a more targeted issue for legislators to support. I devoted significant time to creating different data resources and presentation materials so that parents could deliver our message about Lovejoy effectively. The “Lovejoy Losses” chart was quite the labor of love in re-listening and reviewing board meetings and agendas to list out all that has happened over the last five years– but it was certainly an effective tool in our legislative meetings! It presented a clear, unassailable picture of how inadequate state funding has impacted student opportunity in Lovejoy.

𝗗𝗿𝗮𝗳𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗹: One of the key pieces of advocacy advice we received was to give legislators your drafted bill– don’t wait for them to write it for you. So, I researched the GT allotment statute and its history and presented legislators with a redlined version of the statute to match our funding request. The feedback from legislators and their staff was very positive– they were impressed with the initiative and that the bill was essentially ready to go! Rep. Noble actually filed it back in November right when the filing window opened up.

𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗼𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗔𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻: With our bill filed, the next step was to garner support with as many legislators as possible to get it passed in both houses. We went to Austin in January, armed with Lovejoy community stories and letters. We walked thousands of steps, shook hands, and told legislators and staffers the story of Lovejoy. I am very hopeful that our requests and the GT funding bill continue to be well received, and I’m anxiously watching the legislative session in action to see what may happen next!

𝗜 𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗰𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘁 𝗶𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗱𝘀—𝗶𝘁’𝘀 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. I’ve always been committed to stepping up where it matters, and as a trustee, I will continue working hard to ensure the success of our students, staff, and families.
